Role Summary
Work on the post-silicon application team to bring up Alphawave mixed-signal / SerDes IP on SoCs and in-house test chips. Provide technical support for integration, validation, and production readiness for internal product teams and external customers.
Collaborate with firmware, system, validation and design teams to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and communicate technical status to stakeholders.
Experience Level
Senior — typical experience expectations: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, or PhD +2 years of hardware applications engineering or hardware design/post-silicon validation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead post-silicon bring-up of SerDes/mixed-signal IP on customer platforms and in-house test chips.
- Collaborate with architects, hardware designers, firmware, system, and validation teams to define and implement robust solutions.
- Drive technical communication with internal teams and external customers from silicon bring-up through production.
- Perform system-level debugging using firmware, software diagnostics, and tools.
- Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers) to analyze PHY performance.
- Contribute to test automation and debug infrastructure.
- Occasional travel as required; report to the Director of Application Engineering.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong firmware and system-level debugging skills.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Experience with Python for scripting, test automation, and debugging.
- Experience in ASIC design, verification, or post-silicon validation for high-speed IP interfaces (examples: UCIe, DDR, PCIe, Ethernet).
- Familiarity with lab debug equipment and PHY performance analysis.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and effective technical communication in fast-paced development.
- Experience bringing up IP on advanced process nodes (e.g., 7nm, 5nm, 3nm, 2nm).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is stated as the baseline. Alternate options in the posting: Master’s degree in a related field (with reduced experience requirement) or PhD in a related field (with further reduced experience requirement). Minimum experience options shown: Bachelor's +4 years; Master's +3 years; PhD +2 years. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where indicated.
