Job Title

Algorithm Engineer Intern

Role Summary

Internship role within the Measurement, Analytics and Control (MACH) organization focused on applying agentic and multi-agent AI to semiconductor process and inspection problems. The intern will develop, prototype, and evaluate algorithmic solutions that integrate reasoning, planning, and learning with engineering teams for deployment in production-like environments.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (student or early-career). This role is intended for interns and early-stage researchers.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include building and evaluating agent-based AI solutions and collaborating across teams to integrate them into workflows.

  • Architect and implement agentic AI solutions for semiconductor applications.
  • Design and develop multi-agent systems that collaborate across semiconductor domains.
  • Integrate reasoning, planning, and reinforcement-learning methods into AI workflows.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and data teams to ensure deployment feasibility and usability.
  • Continuously evaluate and apply emerging agent-based AI technologies to practical semiconductor challenges.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; degree specifics are captured under Education Requirements below.

  • Experience developing AI/ML systems, preferably with exposure to agent-based systems or reinforcement learning.
  • Software engineering skills, including machine learning and deep learning model development and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks such as Python and PyTorch; familiarity with C/C++ and web technologies is beneficial.
  • Experience with web-based front-end development (e.g., JavaScript frameworks).
  • Ability to design, evaluate, deploy, and monitor ML/agent systems in realistic settings.
  • LLM pre-training experience is optional but a strong advantage.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing concepts and domain constraints.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Optics, with a focus on electromagnetism, optics, or computational physics.
