Job Title

AI Software Engineer

Role Summary

Integrate commercial AI tools and agent-based systems into existing VLSI design flows to improve engineering productivity and reduce manual intervention. You will join a worldwide R&D team focused on delivering products to market and improving design productivity across the organization.

This position requires on-site work at a Broadcom office, five days per week.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of professional experience in AI/ML system development and deployment.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include embedding AI into design workflows, operating AI systems in production, and coordinating agent-driven processes to improve quality of results and reduce downtime.

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize AI systems to ensure reliable, efficient operation.
  • Analyze existing VLSI design systems and methodologies to identify AI integration opportunities.
  • Integrate commercial AI tools into established design flows and deploy enhancements without full infrastructure rewrites.
  • Coordinate multiple AI agents within higher-level systems to achieve end-to-end process control.
  • Evaluate and compare commercial AI solutions to select best-fit technologies for specific design challenges.
  • Select, clean, and preprocess data fed to AI tools to ensure output quality.
  • Create, refine, and deploy AI agents to improve quality of results and to resolve common tool errors with minimal human intervention.
  • Develop intelligent chatbots and similar interfaces to help engineers access critical information quickly.
  • Provide end-user training and establish best practices for AI-enhanced flows.
  • Integrate external tools for use with Large Language Model (LLM) agents and the MCP protocol.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and work style.

  • 8+ years building and deploying AI/ML systems in production environments.
  • Proven ability to design pragmatic solutions that support predictable schedules (lean development mindset).
  • Experience deploying and operating AI agents and integrating commercial AI tools into existing workflows.
  • Proficiency with data selection, cleaning, and preprocessing for AI/ML applications.
  • Experience integrating external tools with LLM agents and familiarity with the MCP protocol.
  • Strong self-management, organization, and communication skills for collaboration across global, multi–time-zone teams and with external vendors.
  • Experience automating error resolution to reduce downtime and manual intervention.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with VLSI design flows or EDA tool environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
