Job Title

AI SOC Power Delivery Pathfinding PhD Intern

Role Summary

Join the AI Group Power Delivery Pathfinding team to research and develop high-input-voltage (e.g., 48V) and high-power-density DC-DC converters and silicon-integrated voltage regulators for AI SoCs. The role focuses on circuit architecture exploration, mixed-signal design on advanced silicon processes and PCBs, and simulation/analysis to validate performance.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for PhD students. Candidates are expected to have practical experience (guidance in posting: 2+ years) in high-voltage DC-DC converter design and applied power-electronics work.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day activities:

  • Research and evaluate new circuit architectures for high-voltage, high-density DC-DC converters.
  • Design mixed-signal circuits for advanced silicon processes and companion PCBs.
  • Perform simulations, modeling, and analysis to assess circuit performance and stability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive designs toward prototype and silicon validation.
  • Document results, present findings, and iterate based on experimental data.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

  • Expertise in power electronics and DC-DC voltage converter design, including power control design and analysis.
  • Practical experience with high-voltage converter designs (48V preferred); ~2+ years of relevant hands-on experience expected.
  • Background in low-power analog and digital mixed-signal circuit techniques and verification via simulation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced research environments and rapidly learn new tools and methods.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience taking power-delivery circuits from circuit design to layout to silicon prototype.
  • Familiarity with post-silicon verification, testing, and characterization techniques.

Education Requirements

Must be enrolled in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (PhD student enrollment required). No substitute or equivalent-degree language specified.
