Job Title

AI Security Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Work on applying AI and machine learning to software and system security problems. The team develops and evaluates AI-driven methods for code analysis, vulnerability discovery, and security automation within platform and firmware contexts.

This internship provides hands-on project work, mentorship from experienced engineers, and opportunities to contribute findings to cross-functional teams.

Experience Level

Internship / Entry-level. Role is intended for students or early-career applicants; requires a minimum of 3+ months of relevant educational or work experience in related AI or security tasks.

Responsibilities

The intern will support research and engineering work that applies AI to security analysis and tooling. Typical duties include:

  • Develop and evaluate AI/ML approaches for code analysis and vulnerability detection.
  • Analyze software systems to identify security risks and inefficiencies.
  • Test and improve model performance, accuracy, and scalability with engineering teams.
  • Contribute automation scripts and tools to support security analysis workflows.
  • Conduct research on emerging AI/security topics and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in design and review activities.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and experience required; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: 3+ months of educational or work experience using AI tools for code generation, static/semantic analysis, or automated vulnerability discovery.
  • Must-have: System-level programming experience (examples: C/C++, Rust) and scripting for security automation/validation (example: Python).
  • Must-have: Ability to analyze complex code paths and identify insecure patterns or architectural weaknesses.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience defining SoC, IP, or platform architecture specifications.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience finding or preventing firmware/platform-level security issues prior to production.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience scaling AI-driven security discovery across large shared codebases.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree and expects at least 3+ months of relevant educational or work experience.
