AI Research Intern

Role Summary

In-person internship at Silimate's Mountain View office focused on applied AI research for AI-native chip-design tools and agent-driven workflows. The intern will design, implement, and evaluate models, algorithms, and training methods that improve frontend chip design velocity and quality.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Suitable for students or early-career candidates with hands-on AI research or applied machine learning experience. Expected availability: 15–40 hours per week in-person.

Responsibilities

Contribute to research and development of AI methods and integrate them into tool workflows:

• Architect, implement, and benchmark models, algorithms, and training methodologies for AI-native chip design.
• Write, test, and ship high-quality code (primarily Python; C++ as needed).
• Run experiments, analyze results, and iterate on models and datasets.
• Collaborate directly with founders and engineering teammates on research direction and design decisions.
• Communicate findings and results to the team and incorporate feedback.

Requirements

Must-have skills and logistics followed by concise nice-to-have items.

• Available 15–40 hours per week in-person at the Mountain View, CA office.
• Demonstrable experience with applied AI and AI research (models, algorithms, or training methodology).
• Strong software skills and the ability to ship high-quality code quickly (Python; C++ desirable).
• Data-driven, resourceful, and able to work from first principles with minimal supervision.
• Effective collaborator who can work in-person multiple times per week.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience applying ML to chip-design or EDA workflows.
• Prior research projects or publications in ML/AI.
