AI/ML ASIC Design and Implementation Automation Intern - Summer 2027
Role Summary
Work on the Advanced Chip Engineering (ACE) team to develop automation, methodology and CAD techniques that improve power, performance, area, and quality for ASICs, SoCs, and IP. Collaborate with automation engineers and academic partners on VLSI CAD software development and implementation.
Experience Level
Entry-level intern (student internship) for Summer 2027.
Responsibilities
Hands-on implementation, experimentation, and collaboration to advance automation and design flows.
- Develop and test automation tools and scripts for ASIC/SoC design flows.
- Apply AI/ML techniques to automation tasks in CAD workflows.
- Prototype algorithms and data-structure implementations in Python and/or C++.
- Integrate work with CI/CD systems and Unix/Linux-based toolchains.
- Collaborate with engineers and academic partners; document and present results.
Requirements
Preferred skills and experience; strong applicants will have most of the following.
- Proficiency with Python; experience with C++ is beneficial.
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with software CI/CD processes.
- Interest or experience in GenAI / AI/ML techniques applied to automation.
Education Requirements
Must be currently pursuing a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field. Candidates graduating before July 2027 should apply to graduate-hire or entry-level roles instead.
