Job Title

AI Infrastructure Engineer Intern

Role Summary

The CTO Office AI Research Group at Marvell Israel seeks an intern to build data infrastructure and preprocessing pipelines for machine-learning research related to semiconductor chip design. The role is hands-on and focused on turning large, messy, real‑world datasets into clean, model‑ready assets.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Targeted to an advanced BSc student; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collect, clean, normalize, and sanitize large-scale chip-design datasets from diverse sources and formats.
  • Build and maintain scripts and pipelines to automate data extraction and transformation tasks.
  • Parse and process multiple file formats (JSON, CSV, Parquet, logs, domain-specific EDA formats).
  • Work with structured and semi-structured data using SQL and Python tooling.
  • Navigate codebases and directory structures to locate, extract, and interpret relevant data.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to meet data requirements and deliver model-ready datasets.
  • Document data sources, transformation logic, and dataset versions in shared repositories.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and expectations:

  • Proficient in Python with practical experience using pandas and NumPy for data manipulation.
  • Solid SQL skills and experience working with structured and semi-structured data (JSON, CSV, Parquet, logs).
  • Practical experience cleaning, normalizing, and sanitizing messy real-world data.
  • Ability to parse multiple file formats and navigate complex filesystem/codebase layouts.
  • Git fluency: reading commit history, diffs, and working with versioned repositories.
  • Scripting ability to automate repetitive extraction and transformation tasks.
  • Ability to document workflows and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; non-U.S. applicants may be subject to export license review.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to data pipeline frameworks (Airflow, dbt, Spark).
  • Basic familiarity with ML concepts (feature design, train/test leakage awareness).
  • Curiosity for reverse-engineering undocumented data and discovering relationships across files.

Education Requirements

Advanced BSc student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
