AI GPU Arch Perf Analysis Intern
Intel CorporationJob Title
AI GPU Arch Perf Analysis Intern
Role Summary
Join Intel's GPU Compute Architecture team to perform performance analysis of GPU kernels using real AI workloads. The role supports hardware/software co-design by identifying bottlenecks and informing next-generation GPU and AI accelerator platform performance.
This position requires on-site presence in Beijing and offers hands-on exposure to GPU architecture and low-level performance engineering.
Experience Level
Entry-level student internship. Suitable for current undergraduate or graduate students; no prior years-of-experience requirement specified.
Responsibilities
Analyze and report on GPU kernel and workload performance to guide architecture and co-design decisions.
- Analyze and optimize core GPU compute kernels for AI and numerical workloads (e.g., GEMM, Attention, operator fusion).
- Reproduce representative AI inference and training workloads for GPU IP validation.
- Perform GPU performance profiling to identify compute, memory, and pipeline bottlenecks.
- Build performance profiles and simple models to characterize architecture-level behavior.
- Provide workload- and kernel-level insights to support GPU architecture design and HW/SW co-design efforts.
Requirements
Key must-have technical skills and interests for successful contributors.
- Proficiency in Python for analysis, experimentation, or tooling.
- Solid understanding of AI fundamentals, including common models and algorithms.
- Strong interest in GPU architecture, GPU programming, parallel computing, and performance optimization.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems: CPU/GPU architecture, memory systems, and performance analysis.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with GPU programming models or kernels (CUDA, OpenCL, SYCL, Triton).
- Exposure to performance optimization, compilers, or parallel computing via coursework, research, or internships.
- Ability to reason from profiling data and work effectively in a cross-functional engineering team.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
