Job Title

AI Frameworks Engineer

Role Summary

Develop compiler and middleware software to deploy and optimize deep learning workloads on Intel NPUs. The role sits on the deep learning compiler team and focuses on delivering high-quality, high-performance production software for pre-silicon and post-silicon NPU platforms.

Work with cross-functional teams including framework developers, runtime and hardware architects to implement compiler optimizations, performance tuning, and production-quality validation and CI.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires at least 4 years of relevant software engineering experience based on the published minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include design, implementation, and optimization of compiler and execution software for AI workloads.

  • Design and implement MLIR-based compiler technologies and optimizations for neural networks targeting Intel NPUs.
  • Develop AI execution middleware, integrating with toolkits such as OpenVINO.
  • Perform performance analysis and tuning close to hardware; optimize operators and scheduling for high throughput and low latency.
  • Build large-scale, production-grade software with validation, testing, and continuous integration.
  • Collaborate with deep-learning framework teams, runtime, hardware architects, and geographically distributed teams to define and implement end-to-end solutions.
  • Work on pre-silicon development and quickly adapt optimizations when hardware becomes available.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience required to perform the role and additional preferred skills that are beneficial.

Must-have:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in C++ software development, including debugging, performance analysis, and test design.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and modern C++ practices.
  • Experience in at least one of: compiler technologies, deep-learning frameworks or algorithms, high-performance computing, computer vision, or numerical modelling.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, product-oriented teams and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Focus on optimization and performance engineering near hardware and good software engineering practices.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with LLVM and MLIR or other modern compiler infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with formulating optimization problems and using ILP solvers (for example, OR-Tools, CPLEX, SCIP).
  • Experience with AI accelerator development, heterogeneous architectures, GPUs, or runtime software.
  • Background in performance analysis and optimization for machine learning workloads and familiarity with LLM primitives.
  • Experience with Python and modern AI frameworks and ecosystems (e.g., PyTorch, HuggingFace).

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field is listed as the minimum qualification; equivalent practical experience, internships, or relevant coursework/research may be accepted. The posting explicitly references Computer Science or a similar technical field and allows a combination of industry experience, internships, or schoolwork to meet requirements.
