AI and Automation Software Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
AI and Automation Software Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design, development, deployment, and maintenance of AI-enabled automation tools for post-silicon verification, validation, debug, and engineering workflows within the NBIO team.
Deliver scalable software and automation that measurably improves engineering productivity, reduces repetitive manual work, and accelerates silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior-level (seasoned/lead software engineer). Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include converting manual engineering workflows into reliable, automated solutions and embedding AI to improve analysis and triage.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for AI, scripting, data processing, and workflow automation to improve engineering productivity.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI-enabled automation tools (e.g., log analysis, result summarization, debug triage, reporting).
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate delivery and deployment of software solutions.
- Integrate AI/ML frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LaMDA) into applications to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to build interfaces and backend systems that expose automation capabilities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, code docs, and user guides for automation assets.
- Partner with design, verification, validation, firmware, and platform stakeholders to translate engineering pain points into solutions.
- Define measurable success criteria for automation initiatives (hours saved, faster triage, fewer manual handoffs, improved consistency).
- Ensure AI-generated outputs are reviewable, traceable, technically grounded, and comply with responsible AI and data-handling expectations.
Requirements
Core technical and collaboration requirements (must-have vs nice-to-have are listed).
Must-have:
- Proven experience delivering production-grade automation or AI-enabled tools adopted by engineering teams.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with other programming languages as needed.
- Experience implementing and operating CI/CD pipelines and using version control (e.g., Git).
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and integrating ML frameworks into software products.
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills; experience mentoring or leading engineers.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in the semiconductor industry and post-silicon validation methodologies.
- Domain knowledge: PCIe, CXL, xGMI, UALink, SoC platform bring-up, firmware debug, or server platform execution.
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP); containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and automated testing frameworks (pytest).
- Proficiency in C, C++, JavaScript, and familiarity with frontend (React/Angular) and backend (Node.js, SQL/NoSQL) development.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, TensorFlow Developer Certificate).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred certifications mentioned include AWS Certified Developer and TensorFlow Developer Certificate.
