Job Title

AI and Automation Software Engineer

Role Summary

Join AMD's NBIO team to design, develop, deploy, and maintain AI-enabled automation tools that increase post-silicon engineering productivity across verification, validation, debug, and program delivery workflows. You will lead technical solutions that convert manual workflows into scalable, measurable automation assets and collaborate with firmware, platform, and validation teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level (title and description indicate an experienced engineer; no explicit years-of-experience requirement provided).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on identifying productivity gaps and delivering AI/automation solutions that produce measurable improvements.

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for AI, automation, scripting, data processing, and workflow integration to improve engineering productivity.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain AI-enabled tools for log analysis, result summarization, debug triage, issue tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • Develop automation software using Python and other relevant languages; build reusable, well-documented automation assets.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Integrate AI/ML frameworks (e.g., LangChain) into applications while ensuring outputs are reviewable, traceable, and aligned with responsible AI and data-handling practices.
  • Collaborate with frontend/backend developers, verification, validation, firmware, and platform stakeholders to produce production-ready tools and user interfaces.
  • Define and measure success criteria for automation initiatives (hours saved, faster triage, fewer manual handoffs, improved consistency).
  • Create and maintain technical and user documentation for software solutions.

Requirements

Key technical skills and attributes needed for immediate contribution. Education credentials are summarized separately below.

  • Must-have: Professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and software design.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and using version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and practical application of models and frameworks in engineering tools.
  • Practical experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to collaborate across verification, validation, firmware, and platform teams and to communicate technical work clearly to engineers and stakeholders.
  • Awareness of responsible AI, confidentiality, and data-handling expectations.
  • Nice-to-have: Semiconductor industry or post-silicon validation experience; knowledge of PCIe, CXL, xGMI, SoC bring-up, or firmware debug.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks (React/Angular), backend development (Node.js, SQL/NoSQL), testing frameworks (pytest), and CI tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Certifications in relevant cloud or ML technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, TensorFlow Developer Certificate) are a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Certifications in cloud or ML technologies (for example, AWS Certified Developer or TensorFlow Developer Certificate) are listed as optional preferences.
