Job Title

Advanced Packaging Senior Engineer

Role Summary

Join Marvell's Central Engineering Packaging team to develop semiconductor IC packages from concept to production, supporting advanced multi-chip and multi-component designs. The role focuses on physical package layout, electrical optimization, manufacturability, and collaboration with simulation, operations, and suppliers.

Work involves hands-on implementation of package layouts and contributing to tooling, flows, and library maintenance.

Experience Level

Senior — see Education Requirements for specific years-of-experience guidance related to degree level.

Responsibilities

The engineer will execute package layout and collaborate across teams to meet electrical and manufacturing requirements.

  • Evaluate design feasibility against topology, design rules, and electrical targets.
  • Perform hands-on physical implementation of package designs and layout tasks.
  • Work with electrical simulation teams to optimize designs to meet electrical requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations and fabrication suppliers to ensure design for manufacturability.
  • Conduct tool evaluations, develop layout flows, and maintain libraries.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, communication, and teamwork abilities. Education details are listed separately.

  • Experience with IC package or PCB layout tools (for example, Cadence APD, Xpedition Package Designer).
  • Knowledge of packaging technologies, materials, substrate design rules, and assembly rules.
  • Understanding of advanced 2.5D/3D package technologies (CoWoS variants, EMIB, CPO, CPC).
  • Ability to interpret electrical simulation outputs (IR drop, S-parameters) and run basic checks.
  • Strong written and spoken English; able to organize work, meet milestones, and collaborate in a team.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on design experience with flip-chip, 2.5D, or 3D packages.
  • May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; employment may be subject to export license review.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 3–5 years of related professional experience, or Master’s/PhD in Electrical Engineering with 1–3 years of related experience.
