XR Systems Technology Architect
QualcommJob Title
XR Systems Technology Architect
Role Summary
Define next-generation SoC architectures for Qualcomm's XR (AR/VR/MR) product family. Work with cross-functional teams and OEM partners to align IP and SoC roadmaps, model power and performance, and propose architecture solutions for immersive, low-power XR systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Role spans junior to senior experience; typical candidates have approximately 2β15 years of relevant systems, architecture, or SoC experience.
Responsibilities
Design and evaluate SoC-level architectures and data flows for XR use cases; collaborate across IP, design, and customer teams.
- Engage with OEMs and customer-facing teams to gather end-to-end XR use cases and requirements.
- Map product roadmaps to internal IP and SoC architecture plans.
- Propose architecture options that balance power, performance, and area for XR workloads.
- Define and optimize use-case data flows and system-level interfaces.
- Perform use-case power modeling, performance estimation, and optimization.
- Work with SoC design and validation teams to ensure architectures meet power and performance KPIs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for day-one impact; preferred skills listed separately.
- 2β15 years of professional experience in one or more of: IP/SoC design, design verification, microarchitecture, CPU, GPU, DSP, neural processors, camera/video IP, security, NOCs, or DRAM controller subsystems.
- Experience with power architecture, power/performance estimation, and optimization at pre- and post-silicon stages.
- Proven ability to conduct architectural trade-offs and system-level power/performance analysis.
- Strong problem solving and verbal/written communication skills; able to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with mixed/augmented/virtual reality system design and related constraints.
- System-level modeling experience (performance and/or power).
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or shell for modeling/automation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field is expected. Alternative academic pathways accepted in posting: Bachelor's + 2+ years relevant experience; Master's + 1+ year relevant experience; or PhD. Master's and PhD degrees in EE/IS/CS or related fields are listed as preferred.
