Job Title

VLSI Engineer

Role Summary

Work on board- and IP-level verification, factory support, and system debug for high-performance server/networking platforms. The role supports extended factory hours, performs test and debug activities, and delivers verification artifacts and client-facing documentation.

Cross-functional coordination with test engineers, operators, product development teams and contract manufacturers to maintain test throughput and resolve hardware and test failures.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” 2–5 years of relevant industry experience (posting lists 2 years in one place and 3–5 years elsewhere).

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include factory test support, verification and verification documentation, and cross-team coordination.

  • Support night, swing and weekend shifts to cover extended factory/test hours.
  • Review build dashboards; analyze throughput, yields and failure paretos.
  • Debug server and board platforms per published guidelines; perform minor rework, retest and unit recovery.
  • Run pretest scripts, diagnostics and test fixtures; review logfiles and perform initial triage.
  • Publish daily status, build reports and regular client status reports.
  • Maintain high test throughput during off hours and resolve roadblocks that slow progress.
  • Create verification environments and testbenches (UVM), write and execute test cases, perform regression testing and functional coverage analysis.
  • Document failures, debugging procedures and test artifacts in the designated repositories (e.g., SharePoint, JIRA).
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems; write automation or diagnostic scripts as needed.
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers, CM test engineers, operators and cross-functional product teams to ensure plans are followed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: 2+ years of relevant industry experience (see Experience Level).
  • Must-have: Experience with VLSI board design and board/system-level testing.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with Linux command line and ability to run commands and interpret output.
  • Must-have: Ability to run pretest scripts/diags, review logfiles and make initial triage decisions from documented procedures.
  • Must-have: General understanding of system architecture and networking components (compute trays, switch trays, TOR switches, power shelves).
  • Must-have: Strong communication skills and ability to interface with multiple cross-functional teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong EE fundamentals β€” digital design, signal integrity, timing analysis, fault analysis and statistics.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior board/system electrical design experience and working knowledge of high-performance server or networking platforms.

Education Requirements

BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (BS/MS in EE/CE specified in the posting).
