Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Hands-on engineer responsible for bring-up and validation of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. Works with design, systems, and test teams to ensure silicon meets functional, electrical, and performance specifications.

Also supports validation lab operations, equipment control, documentation, and audit readiness.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires 5+ years of experience in silicon IC validation.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute post-silicon validation and lab activities, produce results, and maintain lab readiness.

  • Lead bench validation of silicon ICs during product development.
  • Develop and execute detailed post-Si characterization plans with cross-functional teams.
  • Design and develop schematics and PCB layout for validation boards.
  • Create and automate bench setups to streamline characterization and validation.
  • Perform system-level and parametric tests; debug device- and setup-related issues to closure.
  • Review and publish detailed validation reports for stakeholders.
  • Support lab operation, equipment control, documentation, ESD and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate lab-related audit preparation and follow-up actions (IATF / ISO-related activities).

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and practical skills for immediate contribution. Nice-to-have items are labeled.

  • Must-have: 5+ years experience in validation of silicon ICs.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with bench automation languages β€” Python preferred; familiarity with LabVIEW or TestStand.
  • Must-have: Extensive experience with laboratory bench equipment, automated bench setups, and embedded systems (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
  • Must-have: Practical PCB design skills for power products and hands-on PCB hardware design using KiCAD or Altium.
  • Must-have: Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Spotfire.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with power devices (DC-DC converters, eFuses) and power-management ICs.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience supporting lab audits, ESD control, equipment control, or familiarity with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
