Test Engineer, RF Systems

Role Summary

This role supports RF measurement activities for high‑power and small‑signal devices. The engineer will set up and operate RF test equipment, collect and analyze measurement data, and work with senior engineers and technicians to verify product performance and compliance.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and executing RF test plans, operating and maintaining test equipment, and documenting results.

  • Develop and execute test plans for RF device characterization, including small‑signal S‑parameters and basic high‑power measurements.
  • Calibrate, set up, and operate RF test equipment: signal generators, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power meters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in RF test setups under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Support automation of test execution and data analysis using Excel and scripting tools.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, soldering, basic rework, and fixture preparation.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze RF measurement data and collaborate with engineering teams to review results.
  • Document test setups, procedures, results, and observed issues clearly and accurately.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and abilities for successful performance in this role.

  • Foundational understanding of RF principles, including S‑parameters, gain, power, harmonics, and basic modulation concepts.
  • Familiarity with common RF test equipment (vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters).
  • Basic data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn RF test methodologies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a lab environment with engineers and technicians.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to Python or other scripting languages for test automation and data analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
