Test Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for developing and validating automatic test solutions for low-cost microcontroller devices, from characterization through production release. Works with design and production teams to implement test plans, develop ATE hardware and software, perform failure analysis, and drive yield and test-time improvements.

Experience Level

Mid-level - 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include test development, silicon characterization, and production support.

• Collaborate with design team to interpret specifications and define test requirements.
• Create test plans; develop characterization and production test programs and ATE hardware interface boards.
• Debug silicon on ATE, correlate ATE results with bench data, and support failure analysis.
• Analyze silicon results and perform statistical analysis of yield fallout; identify and fix yield issues and optimize test time.
• Work with production teams to qualify and release products to volume production.
• Define and implement test strategies for new DCDC converter products.
• Develop and maintain ATE hardware and software for mixed-signal testing and qualification.
• Perform device debugging, design validation, and qualification activities to ensure product quality.
• Deliver robust, cost-effective test solutions and be accountable for product quality metrics.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• 3–5 years of relevant test engineering experience focused on semiconductor/IC testing.
• ATE experience on Teradyne J750, Advantest V93K, or Eagle platform; J750 experience is a differentiator.
• Characterization and production test program and hardware development experience.
• Experience releasing programs to manufacturing sites and supporting post-release activities: yield improvement, test-time reduction, coverage analysis.
• Technical knowledge of electronic devices and circuits, analog test techniques, SCAN and PBIST.
• Data analysis skills with tools such as Spotfire or dataPower (or equivalent) using STDF; guardband analysis and limit setting experience.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, sourcemeters, electronic loads, etc.
• Strong understanding of the IC product development process from concept through volume production.

Nice-to-have:

• Mixed-signal test technique experience and familiarity with TI roadmap testers.
• Experience offloading test program and hardware to offshore manufacturing sites.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, or C# for test and automation scripting.
• Revision control experience (Subversion, Git).
• Strong analytical, communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
