Job Title

Technical Product Manager — Siemens HPCWorks

Role Summary

The Technical Product Manager on the HPCWorks product team is responsible for turning product direction and customer needs into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable work for engineering and QA. This delivery-focused role drives sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release readiness to deliver predictable, high-quality software releases.

The role partners closely with Development, Quality Assurance, Release Management, DevOps, documentation, and support to coordinate delivery, validate features, and incorporate production feedback.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 4–7 years of experience in product management or a technical role working with software engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Primary delivery and coordination responsibilities include:

  • Own and maintain a prioritized product backlog; lead backlog refinement and ensure items are clear and ready for engineering.
  • Plan and coordinate sprints with engineering and QA; manage dependencies and unblock delivery.
  • Define release scope and success criteria; track readiness, triage defects, and ensure features are tested, documented, and releasable.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact: clarify expected behavior, reproduce issues, support design reviews and demos.
  • Capture non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, and reliability; ensure stories are testable.
  • Coordinate handoffs with platform, infrastructure/DevOps, documentation, and support to prepare environments and enablement for release.
  • Collect production feedback and support escalations and feed them back into the backlog for continuous improvement.

Requirements

Key qualifications and skills. Degree requirements are listed separately in Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: 4–7 years of product management or technical experience working with software teams; strong working knowledge of software delivery (SDLC), defect triage, and release planning.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with Agile/Scrum processes including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and writing clear acceptance criteria.
  • Must-have: Experience using Jira or similar tools to create and manage epics, stories, tasks, and bugs; use workflows and dashboards to track delivery.
  • Must-have: Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to translate stakeholder input into clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Must-have: Customer-focused mindset with a track record of delivering user-focused products.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Siemens workload managers (Accelerator, PBS Professional, Grid Engine).
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of hybrid on-premises and cloud approaches for EDA/HPC workloads and strategies to scale compute into the cloud.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, Singularity) and experience with HPC/distributed computing architectures.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
