Technical Product Management Principal Engineer (m/f/d)
SynopsysJob Title
Technical Product Management Principal Engineer (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Define product vision, strategy and roadmap for analog and mixed-signal design automation tools. Lead cross-functional efforts with analog designers, layout engineers, AI/ML and software teams to prototype, validate, and deliver automation that reduces design cycle time and improves simulation and layout workflows.
Experience Level
Senior - requires approximately 10+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor design, EDA development, analog/mixed-signal IC design, or design automation roles.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include setting product direction, working with users to identify pain points, and driving delivery of validated automation and AI-enabled workflows.
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for analog and mixed-signal design automation addressing schematic capture, SPICE simulation, layout, verification, and parasitic extraction.
- Work directly with analog designers and layout engineers to map workflows, identify time sinks, and convert pain points into prioritized product requirements.
- Drive application of agentic AI and LLM-based automation, assessing suitable tasks, failure modes, and trust/safety considerations.
- Collaborate with engineering, AI/ML, and software teams to build prototypes, validate concepts with real design data, and iterate based on feedback and metrics.
- Translate complex analog workflows into technical specifications, user stories, and measurable success metrics.
- Engage customers and internal teams throughout the product lifecycle to validate direction and ensure adoption.
- Monitor product performance using metrics such as designer time saved, simulation turnaround, layout closure speed, and adoption rates.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred technical skills and background.
- Hands-on proficiency with analog and mixed-signal design methodologies: schematic capture, SPICE-based simulation, corner analysis, Monte Carlo, transient/AC/DC/noise analysis, and post-layout simulation.
- Deep understanding of analog layout and physical verification workflows, including DRC/LVS and parasitic extraction and their impact on circuit performance.
- Experience converting design workflows into product requirements, prototypes, or automation solutions (as a designer, applications engineer, or product manager).
- Familiarity with AI/ML techniques applied to EDA, particularly LLM-based systems, agentic AI, tool calling, and workflow orchestration.
- Prior roles as an analog/mixed-signal designer, EDA engineer, applications engineer, or technical product manager are strongly preferred.
- Experience with major EDA platforms and analog design environments such as Cadence Virtuoso or Synopsys Custom Compiler is a plus.
Education Requirements
MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is specified. The posting indicates an expectation of 10+ years of experience in semiconductor design, EDA development, analog/mixed-signal IC design, or design automation.
