Technical Account Manager, Sr Staff Engineer
Role Summary
The Technical Account Manager (Senior Staff Engineer) is the primary technical contact for assigned accounts, responsible for aligning Synopsys solutions with customers' business objectives and driving technical engagement across product lines.
Works with sales and technical teams to plan and execute strategic activities, expand product adoption, provide technical leadership, and relay field feedback to product development.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Required minimum professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8 years, MS+6 years, or PhD+3 years. Preferred experience: BS+12, MS+10, or PhD+7.
Responsibilities
Account-level technical ownership and coordination across teams and regions:
- Serve as the single technical point of contact for assigned accounts and build long-term customer relationships.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Account Managers to define short- and long-term technical activities to meet sales goals.
- Coordinate worldwide technical, training, and consulting resources to execute account plans.
- Map customer technical requirements to Synopsys solutions and lead complex technical engagements and opportunity qualification.
- Identify opportunities to expand product usage, displace competitors, and increase user adoption globally.
- Review and oversee technical support activities; ensure quality and follow-up with local support teams.
- Interface with product development to track defects and enhancement requests and influence the product roadmap.
- Support account-based marketing and technology deployment campaigns, including partner integrations.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Minimum 4 years in application engineering, customer support, or consulting roles using engineering software.
- Proven ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience collaborating with teams distributed across multiple global sites.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% (50% preferred).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Synopsys S&A (Ansys) or similar CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM packages and workflows—electromagnetic, signal integrity, or semiconductor domains preferred.
- Previous experience in electronics, high-frequency, or semiconductor industries.
Education Requirements
