Job Title

Systems Test Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate RF reference circuits and board-level implementations for IoT and automotive wireless products. Work on RF performance characterization, board bring-up and EMI certification, collaborating with system, firmware and software teams to improve RF performance and implement custom functions.

This role is on the Connectivity team and focuses on Wi‑Fi/BT RF test and hardware bring-up at the board and system level.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typical candidates: ~3–8 years of hardware/RF engineering experience (posting lists preferred ranges of 3–6 years and minimum 5–8 years for some roles).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include board-level design and RF validation for Wi‑Fi/BT products and supporting product certification and integration.

  • Design and validate reference circuits and PCB implementations for RF subsystems (Wi‑Fi, BT) on IoT and automotive platforms.
  • Perform RF measurements and characterize performance metrics (sensitivity, Tx power, EVM, ACPR, S‑parameters, intermodulation).
  • Troubleshoot RF issues and optimize RF matching and DC power to meet chip-level requirements.
  • Support EMI/EMC certification activities and design for compliance.
  • Collaborate with system, firmware, and software engineers to integrate and tune RF features and custom functionality.
  • Prepare test plans, run bench tests and document results for design iterations.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Practical experience with RF circuit design and Wi‑Fi product development; experience troubleshooting RF performance for Wi‑Fi/BT.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with board design tools such as OrCAD and Cadence Allegro (schematic and PCB workflow).
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience operating RF instruments: signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers and test platforms (e.g., LitePoint).
  • Must-have: Understanding of RF performance metrics and test methodologies (sensitivity, EVM, ACPR, S‑parameters, intermodulation).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience with EMI/EMC certification processes and Wi‑Fi card/module design.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in automotive or industrial product environments.
  • Good communication skills in English and ability to collaborate with cross‑regional teams.

Education Requirements

Degrees mentioned in the posting: Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related technical fields. The posting states bachelor’s as a minimum in some listings and prefers a master’s; alternative qualification language includes master’s with reduced experience or PhD. Equivalent practical experience is implied by the alternative experience pathways described.
