Role Summary

The Systems Integration Engineer leads integration of new hardware platforms and infrastructure technologies into Meta data centers. The role focuses on system design for serviceability, validating data center tooling and automation, developing operational test plans, and troubleshooting systematic field failures.

You will work on a small cross-functional team and coordinate with hardware engineers, production and tooling teams, data center operations, and ODM/OEM vendors to enable deployment of AI/ML, compute, storage, and networking hardware at scale.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 5+ years of relevant engineering or system administration experience; typical mid-career range (3–7 years).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include ownership of hardware integration, test strategy, and cross-team coordination to ensure reliable deployment into data centers.

• Lead new product introduction processes and product launches for hardware platforms in global data centers.
• Lead architecture and hardware reviews to develop diagnostic coverage and system Design for Serviceability requirements.
• Define and execute validation testing for data center readiness, tooling, and automation.
• Engage early with internal and external design teams to influence hardware and tooling architecture.
• Collaborate with Data Center Operations, Production Engineering, Hardware Validation, and Tooling Automation teams to build test strategies and plans.
• Work with ODM/OEM vendors to define product specifications, development, and test plans.
• Capture lessons learned from production incidents and create test cases to prevent regressions.
• Drive alignment on hardware platform roadmaps and implementation milestones across cross-functional partners.
• Travel to Meta data centers and offices as required (approximately 25% domestic and/or international travel).

Requirements

Required and preferred technical qualifications.

Must-have:

• 5+ years experience in system administration, systems engineering, hardware validation testing, or acceptance testing of AI/ML, compute, storage, or networking equipment.
• Proven ability to develop and execute test plans from specifications using industry-standard testing tools.
• Experience with ASIC, compute, storage, or network architecture and components, and hardware troubleshooting and diagnosis.
• Experience introducing new hardware platforms into data centers, including validation planning and system test plans.
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Experience working with remote and cross-cultural teams.
• Experience coding in higher-level languages such as Python, PHP, C++, or Java, and learning software, frameworks, and APIs.
• Familiarity with operational validation methods and verification activities for product integration.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with test-driven software development and SCM tools such as git.
• Experience triaging, testing, developing, and debugging hardware platforms at scale.
• Knowledge of out-of-band / lights-out server methods (IPMI, serial console) and Linux utilities.
• Experience managing large-scale server installations, AI/ML hardware deployment at scale, and hardware lifecycle management.

Education Requirements

BS in an engineering discipline or commensurate technical experience is required. A Master's in Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
