Job Title

Systems Engineering - Analog IC Validation

Role Summary

The role defines, develops, and executes validation procedures and automated tests to verify analog ICs and high-speed I/O systems meet applicable standards and product requirements. The engineer works in a lab environment with test equipment and collaborates with analog/digital designers, firmware, hardware, and board teams through pre- and post-silicon validation.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities include system- and device-level validation, automation, and cross-functional technical support.

  • Architect and execute characterization and compliance tests for standards such as SAS, SATA, PCIe, NVMe, DDR4, and ONFI.
  • Develop and run validation test plans on prototype silicon; perform pre/post-silicon validation with cross-functional teams.
  • Write Python scripts to control test equipment and automate validation tasks; develop host software for low-level system validation.
  • Create SI simulation models and coordinate with customers and board teams on evaluation/production card signal-quality features.
  • Use VNAs, TDRs, spectrum analyzers, and real-time oscilloscopes for measurements and debug.
  • Drive technical debug at the system level, propose workarounds, and implement solutions to complex signal-integrity problems.
  • Document results and present technical findings to engineering teams; produce engineering notes and datasheet input.
  • Train and support Field Application Engineers during customer bring-up and issue resolution.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, followed by useful additions.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (required).
  • Minimum ~5 years of experience in analog IC or system validation and debug.
  • Strong understanding of transmission line theory and high-speed I/O operation.
  • Hands-on use of VNAs, TDRs, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Proficient in Python for test automation; experience developing automated test scripts.
  • Practical system-level debug skills and solid problem-solving ability.
  • Good verbal, presentation, and documentation skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with C and MATLAB, analog simulation tools (SPICE/ADS) and IBIS-AMI models, familiarity with jitter/EMI sources and standards compliance testing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies 5+ years of related work experience in addition to the degree requirement.
