Systems and Solutions Engineer

Role Summary

Join Intel's Networking Solutions Group (NSG) Customer Experience Support team to enable programmable Infrastructure Processing Unit (IPU) solutions for major cloud customers. The role focuses on building proofs-of-concept, enabling features, debugging systems, and collaborating with internal development teams and external customers to deploy IPU-based networking, storage, and virtualization solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 4+ years of relevant experience in systems, networking, or platform engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on customer-facing technical enablement and systems integration across hardware, firmware, and software.

  • Work with customers to gather requirements, build POCs, and demonstrate IPU-based solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for customers building datacenter and AI infrastructure; advise on performance characteristics and trade-offs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical content (presentations, workshops) to customers and partners.
  • Contribute across board/platform bring-up, device initialization, OS driver and kernel configuration, system management, feature enablement, and verification.
  • Debug and troubleshoot platform, compute, memory, and network interactions; manage feature request and issue resolution processes.
  • Define system integration plans to optimize performance and reliability for network, storage, and AI workloads.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • 4+ years of combined experience in relevant areas such as networking, system software, and customer-facing systems engineering.
  • Networking fundamentals including NICs, hardware accelerators, switching, and modern data center protocols.
  • Experience with system software stacks and software–hardware interactions (platform firmware, device drivers, Linux kernel, user space performance).
  • Customer-facing systems engineering experience: debugging and resolving platform-level issues across computing, memory, and networking components.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to coordinate across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Nice-to-have: knowledge of Ethernet/data-center ecosystems, RDMA, AI benchmarking, NIC hardware/software stacks, and familiarity with build/dev tools (GCC, Git, Docker, Jenkins, RPM, Make, shell scripting).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
