Job Title

Systems and Hardware Enabling Engineer (Firmware Engineer)

Role Summary

Develop firmware that interfaces directly with hardware (microcode, FPGA, IP-specific firmware) for Intel client platforms. Implement abstractions of low-level hardware so higher-level software and firmware can operate reliably and securely.

Work within multidisciplinary teams to design, validate, and maintain firmware components that influence product performance, reliability, and scalability.

Experience Level

Senior — experience guidance from posting: 10+ years C programming, 8+ years developing UEFI/BIOS, and 8+ years working with client/server architecture.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and collaboration on firmware that bridges hardware and software layers.

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware with direct hardware interfaces.
  • Implement abstractions of low-level hardware for higher-level firmware and software.
  • Perform design and code reviews to ensure quality, security, and functionality.
  • Test and validate implementations against system requirements and firmware lifecycle procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex hardware–software integration issues.
  • Apply secure development lifecycle and disciplined execution practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and technology innovation efforts within the product ecosystem.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.

  • 10+ years of experience programming in C with demonstrated firmware algorithm design skills and secure coding practices.
  • 8+ years of experience developing UEFI firmware and/or BIOS.
  • 8+ years of experience with client/server architecture.
  • Experience with code review practices and disciplined software development processes.
  • Experience in testing and validation methodologies for firmware.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical issues across stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with secure development lifecycle and product release practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related specialized field is listed as a minimum qualification.
