System Validation Engineer
Role Summary
As a System Validation Engineer on the Silicon Engineering Group team, you will define and execute system-level validation for Thunderbolt technology and related SoC interfaces. The role covers validation planning, infrastructure and test content development, FPGA and silicon debug, cross-team troubleshooting, and reporting to ensure silicon readiness.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define, develop and execute functional validation plans and methodologies for Thunderbolt and system-level features.
- Engage early to specify HW/FW hooks, validation infrastructure and required test content.
- Develop and run validation test plans; execute tests across simulation, emulation, FPGA and silicon environments.
- Perform FPGA and silicon debug to identify root causes and resolve functional failures.
- Validate end-to-end flows across hardware, firmware, drivers and operating systems.
- Apply hardware and software tools and techniques to improve validation coverage and create targeted IP interactions (including microcode, firmware or custom OS builds).
- Publish validation reports, review results, and communicate findings to architecture, design, board, platform and manufacturing teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve debug and validation strategies, methodologies and processes.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
- System-level validation experience. (Must-have)
- Experience with FPGA or silicon debug and failure analysis. (Must-have)
- Practical understanding of hardware, firmware, drivers and OS interactions. (Must-have)
- Ability to develop validation methodologies, test plans and validation infrastructure. (Must-have)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work across architecture, design and manufacturing teams. (Must-have)
- Post-silicon validation background (advantage). (Nice-to-have)
- Knowledge of PCIe protocol (advantage). (Nice-to-have)
- Role requires regular onsite presence; eligible for hybrid work model. (Must-have)
Education Requirements
