System Optic PHY Engineer
Role Summary
Join NVIDIA Networking to design and validate optical PHY systems for high-performance switches and adapters. The role focuses on system-level optical integration, lab characterization, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver production-ready optical interconnects.

Responsibilities
Responsible for system-level optical PHY integration, test, and product qualification.
- Integrate and validate optical PHY components in system designs to meet performance targets.
- Characterize optical links using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BER testers, optical spectrum analyzers) and simulation tools.
- Perform hands-on cross-disciplinary lab testing with architecture, optics, silicon, thermal, mechanical, and signal/power-integrity teams, plus software where required.
- Drive scalability and transition of designs from prototype through qualification to high-volume production.
- Document design specifications, test plans, results, and performance metrics.

- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and solid engineering intuition about physical trade-offs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; effective collaborator across disciplines.
- Experience working in fast-paced development environments and on multidisciplinary projects.
- Nice-to-have: experience with high-speed transceiver and PHY design.
- Nice-to-have: experience in electro-optic communication, high-speed analog signaling, or related circuit design.
- Nice-to-have: practical, hands-on optoelectrical lab validation experience.
Education Requirements
M.Sc. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Related technical degrees (electrical engineering, photonics/optics, high-speed communications) or equivalent hands-on experience are acceptable.
