Role Overview

The System Firmware Architect will be responsible for developing strategic vision and roadmap for firmware and software methodologies for AMD’s GPUs, CPUs, and APUs, while guiding the development across geographically distributed teams.

Experience Required

Candidates should have significant experience in firmware engineering particularly related to CPU and GPU design and programming, preferably at both pre- and post-silicon phases. A collaborative approach and the ability to lead cross-functional teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute CPU/APU/GPU programs, ensuring all architectural documentation aligns with implementation.
  • Provide consulting support for customers on AMD features and programming requirements.
  • Collaborate with open-source communities and address technical issues by developing proactive solutions.
  • Manage requirement changes and negotiate solutions with design teams.
  • Work with Project Management Office to drive architectural initiatives and evaluate project feasibility.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Expertise in embedded firmware development with strong programming skills in C/C++ and a familiarity with RUST is preferred. Knowledge of memory management, various bus protocols, ISA standards, and debugging practices are necessary to succeed in this role.

Education Requirements

A PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields is preferred.
