Staff Verification Engineer - System IP

Role Summary

The Staff Verification Engineer will own verification for a System IP unit across design and verification phases. Responsibilities include developing SystemVerilog/UVM verification IP and testbenches, defining verification strategy, driving coverage closure, debugging RTL, and collaborating closely with RTL designers within the Arm Central Engineering – System IP team in Cambridge.

No relocation package is available. Arm will cover employer-side costs for skilled worker sponsorship; visa application fees and immigration health surcharge are the candidate's responsibility.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff). Requires substantial verification experience and experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute verification strategies for a unit through all design phases.
  • Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM verification IP and testbenches; improve existing testbenches for performance and quality.
  • Create and review design verification documentation and specifications.
  • Develop coverage-driven constrained-random tests and implement functional coverage to achieve closure.
  • Test and debug Verilog RTL and drive quality and on-time delivery.
  • Plan and track tasks to meet targets and coordinate with RTL designers.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Substantial experience in RTL verification of complex ASIC products.
  • Proficiency in a hardware verification language, preferably SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience developing coverage-driven constrained-random verification environments.
  • Experience producing specifications and documentation for complex designs.
  • Understanding of computer architecture fundamentals and strong communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl).
  • Exposure to all stages of the design cycle: concept, specification, implementation, testing, documentation and support.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of formal verification techniques and tools.
  • Hardware design language experience, preferably Verilog.
