Job Title
Staff Test Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and maintaining automated test (ATE) programs, test hardware, and validation procedures for analog, digital, and mixed-signal integrated circuits. Works within the engineering team to design tests, collect and analyze production data, and resolve complex test issues.
Role requires hands-on debug and troubleshooting of test systems and devices; team operates on a hybrid schedule in Plano with limited travel (0–10%).
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience in ATE test systems and test development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and supporting ATE tests and hardware; debugging failures; and delivering production-ready test solutions.
- Develop ATE test programs for analog, digital, and mixed-signal ICs.
- Design, build, and maintain test hardware, fixtures, and interfaces; reduce PCB parasitics.
- Debug and troubleshoot test failures and device issues using scopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and ATE instruments.
- Collect, analyze, and report test data to support product validation and production.
- Write and maintain test-related software and scripts (C++, BASIC, Perl, Python, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test methods, criteria, and procedures.
- Support test program deployment and continuous improvement in production; travel as required (0–10%).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in ATE test development for analog, digital, and mixed-signal devices.
- Practical experience with ATE analog/digital instruments and test program development.
- Experience testing ICs and circuits using oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and similar lab equipment.
- Strong debug and troubleshooting skills for both test systems and devices; experience reducing PCB layout parasitics.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting for test development (C++, BASIC, Perl, Python, or similar).
- Experience developing and supporting test hardware, fixtures, and interfaces.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and deliver test solutions to meet production objectives.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Microflex and Advantest 93K systems; familiarity with ETS364/800; experience debugging analog products that use serial bus interfaces.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or greater in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
