Job Title

Staff SoC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join a new Marvell design center in San Diego focused on custom compute SoCs for advanced AI and XPU programs. The role leads and executes SoC functional verification, develops verification environments and tools, and partners with designers and stakeholders to deliver customer silicon.

This is a foundational position in a newly established local team where you will shape verification strategy, methodology, and tooling.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience: bachelor’s degree plus 3–5+ years of verification and firmware/software development, or MS/PhD with 2–3+ years.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification planning, environment and tool development, and validation of multi-core SoC designs.

  • Develop and maintain functional verification environments, reference models, bus-functional monitors and drivers.
  • Write verification test plans using constrained-random techniques and coverage analysis; implement tests and drive coverage closure.
  • Debug failures, work with designers to isolate and resolve issues, and validate gate-level results.
  • Verify boot code and architect, develop, and maintain software tools to support large-scale, parallel multi-core SoC verification.
  • Translate engineering requirements into usable, scalable software tools and workflows.
  • Perform unit and regression testing of verification tools and environments.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and behavioral requirements for successful candidates.

  • Strong SoC verification and testbench development experience using UVM and SystemVerilog.
  • Proficient in C/C++ and use of DPI for verification integration.
  • Solid understanding of verification methodology: OOP, directed/random testing, coverage-driven verification, and gate-level simulation flow.
  • Experience debugging complex SoC issues and collaborating with RTL designers.
  • Experience in firmware and software development for verification or bring-up.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills; participates in problem solving and continuous quality improvement.
  • Analytical mindset: able to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Education Requirements

Degree expectations: BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science; MS or PhD considered with reduced experience requirements. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable as indicated in the posting.
