Staff SoC Verification and Power Performance Emulation Engineer

Role Summary

Work on SoC verification platforms and power/performance emulation to enable early system performance analysis for future Arm SoC and CPU architectures. The role is part of the System-on-Chip Performance Analysis Team in Central Technology and works with architects, firmware and software engineers to validate SoC integrations and workloads.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building verification and emulation platforms, integrating IP/RTL, and validating SoC-level workloads.

  • Develop SoC verification testbenches for simulation and power/performance emulation.
  • Modify and integrate RTL and IP to construct various SoC configurations.
  • Change and bring up system-level firmware to implement test cases.
  • Verify SoC with bare-metal tests and OS boot.
  • Collaborate with architects to define and evaluate future SoC architectures.
  • Develop tools and workflows to support SoC integration and performance analysis.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and bus protocols.
  • Experience bringing up full-chip SoC test cases in simulation and emulation.
  • RTL implementation experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++; familiarity with Ruby and assembly is beneficial.
  • Experience enabling workloads and benchmarks on RTL simulation and power/performance emulation environments.
  • Good communication and partnership skills; proactive problem solver.

Nice-to-have:

  • Unix/Linux proficiency, scripting, and source control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Familiarity with one or more CPU instruction sets and ARM architecture.
  • Experience with compilers, assemblers, or device drivers.
