Job Title

Staff SoC Power Performance Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join Arm's System-on-Chip (SoC) Performance Analysis team to lead SoC-level performance verification and analysis. The role focuses on building and running early performance platforms using simulation and emulation to identify bottlenecks and drive architectural and RTL improvements.

The team collaborates with architecture, design, and modeling groups to influence future SoC, CPU and IP designs and to deliver data-driven performance recommendations.

Experience Level

Senior (Staff-level). The posting does not specify an explicit years-of-experience range.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute SoC performance verification, analysis, and emulation-based studies. Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

  • Perform RTL performance analysis and verification at the SoC level.
  • Plan and execute performance verification and debug using simulation and emulation environments.
  • Bring up and drive emulation-based performance studies and complex system-level benchmarks.
  • Analyze memory system behavior and conduct theoretical and empirical studies to validate optimizations.
  • Debug performance failures, identify bottlenecks, and propose architectural or RTL fixes based on data.
  • Develop and improve debug infrastructure, tooling, and visualization to accelerate root-cause analysis.
  • Leverage automation and AI-based tools to improve productivity and analysis workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, designers, and modelers to influence product direction.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers to grow team capability.

Requirements

Core technical skills and proven experience required for effective performance verification and emulation work.

Must-have:

  • Proven experience in SoC RTL performance analysis and debug using hardware emulation platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with emulator bring-up, configuration, and developing performance test cases.
  • Strong system-level performance debug across CPU, GPU, and I/O interactions.
  • Deep understanding of memory system architecture, interconnects, cache, coherency, and MMU behavior.
  • Proficient in Verilog and SystemVerilog; working knowledge of C/C++ and a scripting language (Python or Ruby).
  • Strong debugging, data analysis, and technical presentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux, scripting, and source control (Git, Subversion).
  • Familiarity with CPU instruction sets, ARM architecture, compilers, assemblers, or device drivers.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
