Role Summary
The Staff SOC Engineer in Physical Design at Synopsys is responsible for leading full RTL2GDSII physical design implementation for advanced technology nodes. You will work on critical design tasks aiming for high-performance, low-power silicon solutions.
Experience Level
Senior; at least 5 years of hands-on experience in physical design.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
- Independently executing physical design implementation across advanced process nodes (7nm, 5nm, 3nm).
- Performing synthesis, place & route, CTS, timing optimization, and static timing analysis.
- Conducting block-level and full-chip floor-planning, EMIR analysis, and physical verification.
- Collaborating globally to address design challenges and maintain quality standards.
- Utilizing Synopsys EDA tools to achieve optimal silicon designs.
- Creating automation scripts to enhance design flow efficiency.
- Contributing to methodology improvements and mentoring junior engineers.
Requirements
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in physical design for advanced nodes.
- Strong knowledge of RTL2GDSII processes and proficiency in key Synopsys tools.
- Automation skills with scripting languages such as Python, PERL, or TCL.
- Understanding of high-frequency and low-power design methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
