Job Title

Staff SOC DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement design-for-test (DFT/DFD) methodologies for complex SoC products to maximize testability, debuggability, and reliability. Work with cross-functional teams from RTL design through post-silicon validation to ensure production-quality test strategies.

The role focuses on DFT integration into RTL, verification of DFT features, post-silicon debug collaboration, and adoption of automation and AI to improve workflows.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in DFT, SoC design, or related semiconductor design areas.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing test methodologies, integrating DFT features, and supporting post-silicon validation.

  • Develop and implement advanced DFT methodologies for complex SoC designs to maximize coverage and efficiency.
  • Integrate DFT/DFD features into RTL and verify design-for-testability requirements.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, and manufacturing teams to define and optimize post-silicon test and debug strategies.
  • Work with post-silicon teams to debug and validate DFT features on hardware.
  • Improve workflows using automation and AI techniques and keep methodologies aligned with industry trends and standards.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • 5+ years experience in DFT, SoC design, or related semiconductor design roles.
  • Expertise in RTL design and verification using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with industry-standard DFT tools (examples: Synopsys DFT Compiler, Mentor Tessent, Cadence Modus).
  • Familiarity with industry test standards such as IEEE 1687 (IJTAG), 1149.1 (JTAG), or IEEE 1500.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python or similar) for design automation.
  • Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to post-silicon debug and validation.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience applying AI techniques to DFT/automation workflows.
  • Experience with low-power or high-performance DFT strategies.
  • Prior experience managing multi-functional teams or large SoC projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is specified as the minimum educational requirement.
