Job Title
Staff RF Power Management System Engineer
Role Summary
Drive product definition and system architecture for RF power-management and bias-control solutions used in radar, electronic warfare, satellite communications, aerospace, and high-performance communications systems. Work across RF power amplifiers, analog/mixed-signal ICs, power delivery, and embedded control to produce scalable product architectures, specifications, models, and validation plans.
Experience Level
Senior-level professional. Role expects senior experience; posting lists 8+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent advanced education + experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include defining systems, translating requirements, and driving cross-functional validation:
- Lead system-level product definition and architecture for RF power-management and bias-control solutions.
- Translate customer, application, and market requirements into product specifications and system architectures.
- Define requirements for PA biasing, power sequencing, monitoring, protection, pulsed operation, and system control.
- Analyze interactions among RF PAs, bias circuits, power supplies, control electronics, and thermal environments.
- Develop system models and perform tradeoff analyses across efficiency, switching performance, RF metrics, thermal behavior, size, and cost.
- Collaborate with customers, product management, RF engineering, IC design, validation, packaging, test, and manufacturing teams.
- Define validation strategies, evaluation platforms, reference designs, and application demonstrations.
- Lead technical reviews and shepherd concepts through validation and customer adoption; identify and mitigate system risks.
- Create technical documentation, system block diagrams, customer presentations, and validation plans.
Requirements
Must-have skills and constraints for the role; preferred items are listed separately.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in RF power amplifiers, power management, analog/mixed-signal electronics, or equivalent advanced education and experience.
- Proven systems engineering experience integrating RF PAs with biasing, power delivery, sequencing, protection, and control.
- Experience with GaN and/or GaAs RF systems and their transient/thermal behavior.
- Hands-on experience in system modeling, simulation, laboratory characterization, and technical leadership across functions.
- Ability to translate customer and system requirements into specifications, architectures, trade-off analyses, and validation plans.
- Experience working directly with customers and field teams to capture system challenges and requirements.
- Familiarity with designing evaluation platforms, reference designs, and application demonstrations.
- This position requires access to ITAR/EAR technologies; applicant must be a US Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) or otherwise eligible for necessary export authorizations.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is required. Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. The posting accepts equivalent advanced education and experience in lieu of specified degrees.
