Staff R&D Software Engineer (DFT)
Role Summary
Develop and maintain software tools used for design-for-test (DFT) and chip verification, with emphasis on CAD tool development, hierarchical DFT, and pattern porting. Work on performance-sensitive software that interfaces closely with hardware and contributes to high-performance silicon deliveries.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior engineers while delivering production-quality software across the full development lifecycle.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5 years of software development experience, preferably in semiconductor or high-tech domains.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug complex software programs and tools for chip design and verification.
- Implement robust algorithms and data structures to solve engineering problems.
- Build and enhance software involving operating systems, compilers, networking utilities, and related applications.
- Drive hardware-software integration and influence hardware design to optimize performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects from conception to production.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, share technical knowledge, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical issues; optimize software performance and reliability.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in software development, preferably in semiconductor or related high-tech fields.
- Expertise in C/C++ and a strong foundation in data structures and algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with operating systems, compilers, networking, and internet-related tools.
- Prior experience with Hierarchical DFT, IEEE 1687 (IJTAG), pattern porting, and CAD tool development.
- Experience with hardware-software integration and performance optimization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers.
