Staff R&D Engineer
Role Summary
Lead research and development of advanced semiconductor devices, fabrication processes, and integration for RF applications. Work within R&D and cross-functional teams to develop and demonstrate novel transistor devices and wafer-level processes that meet aggressive performance targets.
Support internal programs and external customers through technical communication and presentations. Position is based in Richardson, Texas; relocation eligible.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum of 3 years of experience in semiconductor device research or process development (professional/research setting).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading process and device research, hands-on development, and technical communication.
- Lead novel process development and define technology flows for advanced RF semiconductor components.
- Operate and troubleshoot semiconductor fabrication equipment to develop wafer-level processes.
- Perform DC, RF and reliability characterization of GaN devices; analyze data and extract conclusions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams to meet project goals and schedules.
- Author and review technical proposals, reports, and publications; pursue external R&D funding aligned to technology roadmaps.
Requirements
Key required skills and constraints.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor processing, device physics, and characterization with ability to propose and demonstrate solutions to improve device performance.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication and process development, including troubleshooting wafer-level processes.
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC).
- Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
- Self-starting individual contributor able to make technical decisions in a fast-paced research environment.
- Experience leading and executing R&D projects is highly preferred.

Education Requirements
PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related technical field is required. The posting also specifies a minimum of 3 years of experience in semiconductor device research or process development.
