Staff/Principal Design Engineer – Custom Digital Hard Macros (Physical IP)

Arm
Full-time
Remote friendly (Bengaluru, Karnataka, India)
Worldwide
Level - Senior

Role Overview

The Arm Solutions Engineering Physical IP group is launching a new team devoted to the architecture and design of custom and semi-custom digital hard macros. These macros serve as essential components within Arm's CPU, GPU, NPU, and SoC frameworks, addressing power delivery and other constraints.

Experience Level

12+ years of hands-on experience in custom digital or mixed-signal IP development is required, having overseen multiple silicon-proven hard macros. Technical leadership and mentorship experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design digital hard macros encompassing clocking structures and power-control features.
  • Define specifications and implementation requirements for mixed-signal macros.
  • Drive physical implementation processes through workflow management including synthesis and physical signoff.
  • Work on SoC integration by generating and validating necessary deliverables.
  • Lead design analysis focusing on mixed-signal interaction and collaboration with verification teams.
  • Engage in silicon exposure strategies from hard-macro bring-up to silicon-level debugging.

Requirements

Strong digital design expertise with an understanding of analog effects on digital functionality (e.g., jitter, PVT sensitivity). Familiarity with synthesis, APR, STA, and verification flows is crucial.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is typically expected. Advanced degrees may be preferred depending on experience level.
