Job Title
Staff Physical Design Engineer (Physical Design or STA)
Role Summary
Senior-level staff ASIC engineer focused on physical design or static timing analysis (STA) to support customer programs for AI/ML and high-performance compute silicon. The role is hands-on and works across design, verification, packaging, tape-out, and production to ensure delivery of high-performance ASICs.
Experience Level
Senior (staff-level). No specific years of experience stated; role expects multiple tape-outs and technical leadership in implementation flows.
Responsibilities
Primary hands-on responsibilities to support customer ASIC programs from design through production.
- Execute and validate physical design or STA flows to meet tape-out quality for advanced nodes.
- Support customer teams with EDA tools, design flows, and high-performance methodology best practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks to quality, schedule, and dependencies across programs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex implementation challenges in AI/compute architectures.
- Support program communication across engineering and internal partners.
- Track emerging implementation techniques and trends relevant to AI/ML accelerators, chiplets, and advanced nodes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and authorization to work in the U.S.
- Hands-on experience in physical design or STA with relevant EDA tools and flows.
- Multiple ASIC tape-outs; experience on advanced nodes preferred.
- Strong understanding of PPA tradeoffs and low-power design in compute-intensive systems.
- Scripting experience (TCL, shell, or similar) for flow automation and validation.
- Exposure to broader ASIC flows (logic simulation, test, packaging).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with AI/ML accelerators, HPC, or large-scale compute SoCs.
- Exposure to SERDES or other high-speed interfaces, RTL design, microarchitecture, or front-end flows.
- Knowledge of DFT (scan, MBIST, repair) or chiplet architectures.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
