Job Title
Staff Layout Designer
Role Summary
Senior layout engineer responsible for physical layout of analog, periphery and mixed-signal blocks for memory products. Works with design, CAD and verification teams to produce manufacturable, high-quality layouts and supports tape-out processes.
Experience Level
Senior β Staff level, typically 7+ years of layout experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include delivering layouts, coordinating with teams, and ensuring manufacturability and quality.
- Create and deliver high-quality layouts for critical blocks (temperature sensors, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers, etc.).
- Perform floor-planning, placement and routing for mid-size blocks in core/pitch and periphery areas.
- Debug and resolve LVS, DRC and layout issues; perform ECO, LCO and DFM tasks.
- Apply analog layout techniques and manage layout effects on speed, capacitance, power and area.
- Coordinate with TD, design, CAD and verification teams to meet schedules and tape-out deadlines.
- Mentor junior layout engineers and organize resource allocation for projects.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience followed by notable advantages.
-
Must-have: 7+ years layout experience with strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals (matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, parasitics).
-
Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence VXL and practical experience on periphery blocks.
-
Must-have: Strong LVS/DRC/debug and problem-solving skills for layout issues.
-
Must-have: Hands-on creation of layouts for critical analog/mixed-signal blocks and ability to deliver mid-size blocks end-to-end.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of design rules, tape-out procedures, mask generation and multiple fab processes.
-
Must-have: Ability to execute ECO/LCO/DFM and to coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver on schedule.
-
Must-have: Ability to mentor junior members and lead layout tasks.
