Staff Engineer - Formal Verification

Role Summary

Lead formal verification for processor and digital IP blocks within the Bengaluru engineering team. Drive selection of targets, formal test-plan creation, verification environment implementation, and property sign-off.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 8+ years of formal verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Identify blocks suitable for formal verification and create formal test plans with sign-off metrics.
• Implement and maintain formal verification environments (Chisel-based).
• Apply formal abstraction techniques and other FV methods to reduce complexity and prove DUT correctness.
• Debug RTL to identify root causes of failure scenarios and work with design teams to resolve them.
• Develop and maintain assertion libraries and automation scripts to streamline the verification process.
• Review formal setups and proofs with design and verification teams; guide and train team members on effective use of formal tools.

Requirements

Required skills and experience:

• 8+ years of experience in formal verification of digital hardware design.
• Extensive experience with formal abstraction techniques and sign-off processes.
• Familiarity with industry formal tools (for example VC Formal, JasperGold).
• Knowledge of hardware description and verification languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL).
• Strong debugging, reasoning, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
• Experience writing automation scripts; Chisel experience for FV environments is preferred.
• Object-oriented programming knowledge is a plus.
