Job Title

Staff Engineer, Digital Design Engineering

Role Summary

Senior individual contributor and technical lead responsible for defining specifications, micro-architecture and RTL for digital IP/modules within an SoC. Works with verification, physical design, and post-silicon teams to achieve functional correctness and timing closure.

Provides technical and managerial leadership to a team of digital design engineers, mentors junior engineers, and contributes to chip-level architecture decisions.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 10+ years of hands-on digital logic design and technical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include ownership of module design, leadership of design engineers, and collaboration across verification and PD teams.

  • Define specifications, micro-architecture and implement RTL for IPs and functional blocks.
  • Contribute to and influence overall chip architecture.
  • Lead and mentor design engineers on timing constraints, lint checks, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
  • Collaborate with verification and physical design teams for coverage and timing closure.
  • Perform lint checks, clock-domain-crossing analysis, and sanity synthesis runs.
  • Support post-silicon bring-up and debug activities.
  • Participate in hiring and provide managerial guidance to team members.
  • Travel as required (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have skills, tools and experience necessary to perform the role.

  • 10+ years of solid digital logic design experience, including hands-on RTL coding and debugging.
  • Experience with lint tools, CDC analysis, formal equivalence checking, ECO flows, and scripting for flows and automation.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience working with verification and physical design teams toward timing closure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-site collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel roughly 10%.
  • Nice-to-have: knowledge of audio systems and/or DSP fundamentals; prior experience with post-silicon debug.

Education Requirements

Minimum BTech/BE degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (Bachelor's in a related field). No additional certifications specified.
