Staff Engineer, Backend Technology

Role Summary

This position is aimed at engineers looking to lead the backend implementation of complex digital IP. The role requires strong analytical abilities and teamwork skills to ensure robust deliveries across various technology nodes.

Experience Level

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree with over 5 years or a Master’s degree with over 3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Drive RTL-to-GDSII implementation for complex digital IP, ensuring signoff timing and PV closure.
• Lead backend flow development, including PnR, STA, DRC, LVS, and EMIR analysis.
• Collaborate with design and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
• Troubleshoot timing, congestion, and physical verification challenges.
• Participate in design and flow reviews and document methodologies for process improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Engage with stakeholders to deliver backend solutions on schedule.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with RTL-to-GDSII flows and a deep understanding of timing closure strategies.
• Proficiency with EDA tools such as Synopsys ICC2, PrimeTime, and Calibre.
• Strong scripting skills in Tcl, Python, or Perl for process optimization.
• Experience with large, complex SoCs or IP blocks through backend implementation.
• Excellent communication skills for interactions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
