Job Title
Staff Engineer, Automotive Software Algorithm Engineering
Role Summary
Design, implement, and productize in-car infotainment audio algorithms for automotive platforms, owning the algorithm lifecycle from requirements through production deployment. Work on signal-chain features such as AEC, road-noise cancellation, personalized sound zones, in-car communication and voice enhancement, and ensure real-time, memory-efficient implementations on ADI DSP and ARM-based SoC platforms.
Collaborate with systems, firmware, QA, product, and customer teams to integrate and validate solutions in vehicle reference systems and support customer integration and verification.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests approximately 7–8 years of experience in audio signal processing and AI-enabled algorithm development on embedded platforms.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include algorithm development, embedded implementation, and system integration for automotive cabin audio use cases.
- Define, design, prototype, and productize infotainment audio algorithms (AEC, voice enhancement, RNC, PSZ, ICC, VAD, trigger-word recognition, etc.).
- Lead algorithm lifecycle activities: requirements interpretation, design, simulation, development, validation, tuning, and documentation.
- Implement and optimize algorithms for real-time performance on ADI DSPs and ARM-based SoC platforms, considering latency and memory constraints.
- Integrate algorithms into embedded software stacks and automotive reference systems; support system-level verification and debugging across algorithm, firmware, and platform layers.
- Apply AI/ML methods to improve robustness and user experience where appropriate and use AI-enabled engineering tools to accelerate development while preserving traceability.
- Produce engineering deliverables aligned with automotive development practices (e.g., ASPICE) and contribute patentable innovations where applicable.
- Work independently, iterate rapidly via prototyping, and support customer validation in real vehicles.
Requirements
Must-have technical and professional skills; preferred items listed separately.
-
Must have: Strong programming in Embedded C/C++ with experience in real-time, performance-critical development.
-
Must have: Embedded systems fundamentals (RTOS concepts, concurrency, timing, low-level debugging).
-
Must have: Experience implementing and optimizing algorithms on ADI DSPs and ARM-based SoC platforms; algorithm-to-embedded translation (floating/fixed-point, latency budgeting, memory/performance profiling).
-
Must have: Practical experience applying AI/ML techniques in audio/signal-processing contexts.
-
Must have: Experience with MATLAB-based modeling/simulation for signal processing workflows.
- Familiarity with system integration, verification, and debugging of multi-domain issues across algorithm, firmware, and platform layers.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; self-starter capable of handling multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% for customer or integration activities.
-
Preferred: Background in automotive infotainment audio projects and hands-on experience with AEC, beamforming, sound zones, or in-car communication.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Signal Processing, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. The posting associates this academic background with ~7–8 years of relevant industry experience.
