Job Title
Staff Engineer, Application Engineering
Role Summary
Provide advanced applications engineering and customer-facing technical support for Synopsys EDA sign-off solutions in Power Integrity, Signal Integrity, EM/ESD/Thermal Reliability, timing/jitter, and chip-package-system co-design at advanced process nodes (5nm, 3nm, 2nm).
Work closely with product architects, developers, and customers to diagnose design issues, develop methodologies, and drive product improvements. Role is based in Bengaluru with Hyderabad considered based on candidate availability.
Experience Level
Senior level β requires significant experience; posting requests 6+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical account support, automation, and product feedback to enable sign-off closure for customer designs.
- Deploy and support sign-off flows and methodologies at customer sites for Power Integrity, Signal Integrity, EM/ESD/Thermal Reliability, and advanced timing/jitter.
- Diagnose complex design issues in customer environments and recommend robust fixes to achieve tapeout.
- Collaborate with software developers and product teams to translate customer problems into product requirements on the Seascape platform.
- Create and maintain TCL and Python automation to streamline workflows and speed closure.
- Document findings, produce application notes, and present technical results to engineering and executive stakeholders.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites or Synopsys offices for escalations, launches, or critical engagements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviors.
- 6+ years hands-on experience in Power Integrity, Signal Integrity, or Reliability sign-off, ideally at advanced nodes (7nm and below).
- Strong proficiency in TCL and Python for automation and analysis.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex sign-off issues under time pressure in customer design environments.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to present technical tradeoffs to engineers and executives.
- Comfortable working across time zones and switching between deep technical debugging and high-level strategy.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer engagements and internal collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: experience with EDA sign-off tools such as RedHawk, PrimeTime, HSPICE, or similar; prior exposure to chip-package-system co-design and Seascape platform is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, VLSI, or a closely related field.
