Job Title
Staff EDA Tools Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development and integration of timing-closure flows and RTL-to-GDS workflows for advanced APR on new process nodes. Drive experiments and tooling improvements to meet performance, power, and area (PPA) targets and ensure deterministic PPA measurement for Technology Feature Maps (TFMs).
Work cross-functionally with foundry teams, EDA vendors, and product stakeholders; lead a team applying AI agents and DTCO methods to improve PPA convergence and reduce regressions.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
The role combines technical leadership, hands-on flow development, and cross-team coordination to deliver deterministic PPA results for each TFM release.
- Develop and integrate iterative timing-closure flows for advanced APR to achieve PPA convergence on new process nodes/PDKs.
- Drive adoption and improvement of AI agents to accelerate PPA experiments and the RTL-to-GDS workflow.
- Plan and execute DTCO experiments across multiple PPA objectives.
- Collaborate with foundry and Intel Foundry teams to ensure platform entitlement is reflected in Intel Products TFM.
- Lead debugging of PPA non-determinism and regressions; coordinate fixes with EDA vendors and foundry partners.
- Define and align PPA measurement methodology and ensure deterministic measurement for every TFM release.
- Mentor and lead team members; rotate across projects to expand technical depth and AI expertise.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills to be effective from day one; soft skills and broader experience listed as desirable.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of relevant industry experience in software development, data engineering, analytics, or AI-related roles focused on semiconductor design flows.
-
Must-have: Proven experience on PPA convergence and structural design (RTL-to-GDS) across multiple product tape-ins.
-
Must-have: Deep expertise with EDA design-construction tools, including command usage, application options, and tool configuration/tuning.
-
Must-have: Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve PPA non-determinism and regressions.
-
Nice-to-have: Practical experience applying AI agents or ML techniques to automate or accelerate PPA experiments and RTL2GDS workflows.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience driving DTCO experiments that balance multiple PPA objectives.
-
Desirable soft skills: Strong analytical and debugging skills, clear written and spoken English communication, ability to manage priorities and work independently.
Education Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline (as stated in the posting).
