Staff Design Evaluation Engineer
Role Summary
The Design Evaluation Engineer in the INS ATE Group (Wilmington, MA) develops bench and automated test solutions for first-silicon verification, characterization, qualification and manufacturing of precision mixed-signal and high-speed analog products. The role collaborates with design, layout and application teams and participates in new product development to ensure test coverage and product release readiness.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in analog/mixed-signal evaluation and test development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing and delivering hardware and software evaluation test solutions and supporting product release and production teams.
- Develop evaluation test solutions for high-performance analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits.
- Design, build and debug cost-effective HW/SW solutions for characterization, qualification, wafer probe and final product testing.
- Define evaluation test methodologies, test plans and test modes in coordination with design engineers.
- Create evaluation test schematics and work with layout engineers on PCB design.
- Debug test programs and correlate test results with design simulations.
- Support local and offshore application teams with product use cases after production release.
- Participate in New Product Development teams and evaluate new evaluation/test systems for future applications.
- Manage project schedules to meet product introduction and release dates.
- Travel as required (approximately 10%).
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience are listed below; preferred skills are noted separately.

Must-have:
- 5+ years experience analyzing and debugging analog and digital circuits.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Visual Basic for test software development.
- Experience designing multi-site hardware and software solutions for Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Experience with schematic and layout tools such as Orcad and Cadence ALLEGRO.
- Ability to perform statistical data analysis (Excel or equivalent) and document/present test plans and reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:
- Scan test experience and familiarity with Cadence tools.
- Unix operating system knowledge and bench-top instrumentation lab experience.
- Shift: 1st Shift / Days.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (e.g., Electronics Engineering) is required; a Master’s degree is a plus. (Degree fields and level explicitly stated in the posting.)
