Job Title

Staff CPU Subsystem Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Verify complex CPU subsystems and their integration within Arm-based SoC platforms. The role sits in the Solutions SoC Engineering organization and focuses on developing scalable verification strategies, owning end-to-end verification execution, and collaborating across architecture, design, firmware, emulation, FPGA, and validation teams.

Work emphasizes functional correctness, coherency, performance and power scenarios, reusable verification environments, and automation to achieve first-time-right silicon.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 10+ years of experience in CPU, subsystem, or SoC verification.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include planning and executing verification for CPU subsystems and driving closure across functional, code, toggle, assertion, and coverage metrics.

  • Develop and execute verification strategies and plans for CPU subsystems and associated IP.
  • Verify cache hierarchy, coherency, interrupt controllers, debug/trace, memory interfaces, and subsystem integration.
  • Validate functional correctness, coherency, performance, and power-management scenarios.
  • Architect, develop, and maintain reusable verification environments, verification IPs, methodologies, and automation.
  • Create test cases and coverage-closure strategies; track and drive verification closure to schedule.
  • Debug RTL, testbench, integration, and system-level issues; collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve defects.
  • Leverage scripting, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to improve verification productivity.
  • Contribute to methodology improvements, documentation, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes for successful candidates, followed by desirable skills.

Must-have

  • 10+ years of CPU, subsystem, or SoC verification experience.
  • Proven experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog, UVM, and modern verification methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of CPU architecture, memory hierarchy, coherency protocols, interrupts, and subsystem integration (Arm familiarity preferred).
  • Experience with C/C++ and scripting for testbench and flow automation.
  • Hands-on RTL and testbench debugging, coverage closure, and verification IP usage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with CHI, ACE, AMBA, GIC, RAS, or debug/trace infrastructure.
  • Performance and power-aware verification experience (e.g., UPF).
  • Experience with emulation, FPGA-based validation, gate-level simulation, or post-silicon validation.
  • Familiarity with Arm System Architecture and AI-assisted verification tools/workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (for example Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) was requested in the posting.
